MoonBall Magic is noteworthy for being an early title from Squaresoft (though not developed in-house), and for being a “disk writer” title that required you to bring a blank disk to an authorized shop to get a copy, but other than that it’s just a very mediocre pinball game that isn’t really worth your time.

The game puts you through a series of sequential levels, all of them initially elaborate-looking (for 8-bit standards anyway) and long enough to scroll vertically. But you’ll soon find they have warps scattered around, these are very easy to hit and often pack you right off to the next level before you’ve really had a chance to play much of the current one.

You’ll want to end some levels fast, though, as some have awful design on par with porno pinball games. The third level is the first example of this, the ball drops immediately onto a central floating platform that very often just regurgitates it right between your paddles with no chance to save it. There are big death gaps on either side of the level too.
