Part of the PlayStudios/myVegas umbrella of “loyalty points” games that can be redeemed for all sorts of prizes, MGM Slots Live is pretty much just a re-skinned version of POP Slots with more limited features. Truth be told, I got into these kinda late in their life so I dunno if MGM’s games were simply bolted onto POP Slots at some point. But this one basically just contains the big, elaborate “lounge” games attached to each casino in POP Slots. They’re all slots, but they have very elaborate settings and cooperative bonus rounds unlike anything you’ll see in a real money casino.
This also does offer the advantage of having most of these games unlocked right off the bat, whereas in POP Slots you have to do some substantial EXP grinding to unlock all the casinos. There is an EXP system and a few are level-locked here, however.
MGM Live entirely does away with the concept of casinos to visit, and though you do create an avatar for appearances in the slot bonus rounds (exactly the same as the character style used in POP Slots) they aren’t going to be walking around anywhere. You just get a list of games to choose from, with not a whole lot else going on; not nearly as much in the way of extra challenges and whatnot as seen in some of PlayStudio’s other games.
So what’s the point of playing this one, if you can get the same games in POP Slots with a more fun environment and more stuff to do? Well, uh … honestly I can’t see much point, unless you’re trying to grind every possible PlayStudios game for its 4k daily loyalty points limit.
