Original Release: Light & Wonder, 2019
A newer variant of the long-running Quick Hit series that emphasizes regular hits on the game’s towering list of jackpots more than the bonus feature
Quick Hit Blitz (Light & Wonder, 2019)
Review by: C. M0use
Quick Hit Blitz seems to iterate on the initial video entries of the series by trading out the frequent free spins for more frequent Quick Hit jackpots, at least the ones at the smaller end of the scale. In that sense, it’s a faster and simpler game, but it doesn’t seem more lucrative on the whole. I feel like it has a much more unfavorable bonus feature, and on top of that it pushes you to max bet to take full advantage of it.
Quick Hit Platinum is what got me into the Quick Hit series, I’ve had nothing but good runs on it so far in terms of a “long casino points grind session and walk away not losing any money or slightly ahead” type of perspective. I kinda feel like Blitz was designed to curtail that sort of play. I wouldn’t say it’s highly volatile or a money-sucker, as the smaller Quick Hit jackpots do pop pretty often. But it has smaller and fewer line wins, and it’s TIGHT with the bonus feature comparatively.
The bonus feature is also less generous and has more restrictive terms. In Blitz, when it pops you get just three spins to land a certain amount of Quick Hit symbols. If you get enough, you get the first level of jackpot and it moves on to the second with a fresh set of three spins (and a higher symbol requirement). Rinse and repeat until you potentially hit the maximum jackpot, which would be one hell of a win … but after the first two or three jackpots the symbol requirement is so high it’s extremely unlikely you’re going any further. A more realistic expectation for the bonus feature is for it to return only about 10x your wager, which is pretty bad for how infrequently it pops.
The loss of that action is partially mitigated by getting the smaller Quick Hits jackpots (5x to 7x scatter symbols anywhere in the playfield) more often, and during a couple long play experiments I still actually came out a bit ahead each time betting the minimum. But if you want access to the larger jackpots you’ll have to max bet, which greatly increases the volatility (unless you have Tony Stark bankroll and tons of time on your hands I guess).
