A mini-golf game with wacky rules that isn’t too far from Kirby’s Dream Course.

I Love Golf is basically mini-golf, but with some of its own unique twists. You’re hitting what looks (and feels) more like a light yet oversized croquet ball, and can perform impossible feats of english depending on where you hit the ball. The playfields are also littered with a combination of unusual obstacles and helpful tiles that can boost your ball in a particular direction or warp it elsewhere. Birthday presents scattered about also can give you a temporary power for the current hole, like braking the ball or having some ability to steer it after hitting it.
The game consists of six courses of eight holes each. Don’t expect a story mode, unlockables or anything fancy, it’s purely either score attack for solo players or just for the fun of competition for two players. It was originally released as a temporarily-available download title for Nintendo’s Satellaview satellite system, so it’s kept pretty simple and straightforward without a whole lot of options or bonus modes.
The game can be frustrating as there are no real measures for predicting how a shot will unfold, it’s all guessing and experimentation. You have to learn the finicky rules of some of the special tiles and such just by messing around with them. It’s definitely a unique and interesting little game of golf, though, and on the whole pretty well-made.
